Camping has so many advantages, but sometimes the stress of finding a great camping spot can take away from the relaxation of spending time in nature. Save yourself the worry and Find and Reserve a Great Campsite instead!
Gone are the days of driving around looking for an available camping spot. Although all my childhood camping memories involve the excitement and anticipation of driving from campground to campground just wondering where the adventure would end, as an adult it’s much less exciting and much more stressful. Trust me, do yourself a favor and make a reservation for your camping site instead.
How to Find a Great Campsite
You can now reserve campsites at national, state, local and private campgrounds up to one year in advance, although most campgrounds do still keep a portion of their sites as ‘first come first serve’ to appeal to those thrill seekers who just love the hunt. With so many campground options it’s dizzying trying to decipher them all but I’ve rounded up some of the best resources for finding, researching and reserving a camping site.
National Park Service Campgrounds
Our National Park’s are places for us to come together and celebrate the special beauty of nature. By using and appreciating them we are ensuring they will last forever. Visit The National Park Service website to find a national park in your area or find a national park with a campground . Once you’ve narrowed down your choices, visit Recreation.gov to make a reservation.
State, County, City and Private Campgrounds
Research the Campground and Campsite
Once you’ve narrowed down the area where you’d like to camp find the best campsite by looking over reviews and picture on sites like TripAdvisor and Campsitephotos.com . They’re so helpful for hearing what others have to say about a particular site as well as looking over more photos and information for each campground and site before making a reservation.
Then, pack up, head on out and enjoy nature! Looking for more ideas on how to enjoy camping? Or, are you a camping newbie looking for more information about what to expect at camp? Check out my how to guide to Go Camping with Kids (and actually enjoy yourself!).
